The young people, who played the chief parts, chose from among their own number a mock pope, archbishop, bishop, or abbot. Participants would then “consecrate” him with many ridiculous ceremonies in the chief church of the place, giving names such as Archbishop of Dolts, Abbot of Unreason, Boy Bishop, or Pope of Fools. The ceremonies were often travesties mocking the performance of the highest offices of the church, while other persons, dressed in different kinds of masks and disguises, engaged in indecent songs and dances and practiced all possible follies within the church building.

Every year, just before the holiday break, the students of the UP College of Law hold a variety show called Malcolm Madness, where we lash back at our professors (=tormentors) by (mostly) spoofing them. Like the revelers of the Feast of Fools, we too, sing songs and mock these high cathedrals of learning. It’s coarse and tasteless and juvenile.
I love it, and I intend to be there to watch as long as I’m in law school 
This time around was special, as our block was assigned with overall management of the affair. I say “management” because, as we’ve discovered, this affair somehow creates itself, despite the pressure and the lack of time to prepare. It’s like a flashmob, spinning from chaos into order, propelled by its own internal logic (or non-logic?)
My faves:
1. The opening number from portia sorority (featuring ms. sabitski).
2. The Tide commercial spoof featuring my library rival Andrew Corro.
3. (Obviously biased) My short sketch of the indefatigable Prof. Labitag.
4. The seniors’ medley of spoofed songs. Student angst in a bittersweet concentrate!
5. The video mashup of the prof interview is the sweetest justice and the finest comedy I’ve had in a long time. All year round the profs twist our words and lead us into traps…it’s so satisfying to see the tables turned for once. I don’t think anything like it has been done in Malcolm Madness history, and it saddens me to think that it’ll never be uploaded for the alumni to enjoy. Ask around for bootlegs!
All in all, a wonderful show which in my most objective opinion, went above and beyond all the ones before it

aww. thanks jill. kahit i switched back to prod crew mode at that time, i wanted to go back up the stage and claim those “dirty dice” as my prize, hehe. but we have to admit, “ma’am beth” gave a larger than life performance that evening
