It’s a damn shame I lost my camera phone, because this would have been much much cooler with pictures. I was out on the streets while Milenyo was busy whaling Metro Manila.

I had an appeal due the next day (or so I thought) and so I was looking for a cozy Internet shop where I could type and type and type my memorandum. Instead I ended up smack in the middle of a disaster movie. Uprooted trees?? Check. Felled electric posts? Check. Crushed cars, collapsed billboard, water tank hurled  down the street. Check check check.

I was saved by a friend and her family. If they didn’t pick me up I would have gone out laughing like a madman daring the wind to take me, to prove that at this point I’ve gone beyond all hurting.

Shelter in a multilevel parking facility. A dinner over candle light. The feeling of freedom as  layers of constraints - all the fucking legal institutions and markets and architectures collapsed.
And when darkness came I joined the growing throng of restless nerds looking for  espresso and wifi connections.
