Last night I dreamt of the old doctor – my teacher and friend, now long dead.

The doctor taught me logic, and Macs, and the name of the stars, and the stories of the people who lived in the eye of the world.

He also told me what one ought to do when caught in an ambush.

Or at least what you don’t do: stand still and wait. Bastards will pick you off one by one. You fire on your attackers while running towards them. This way there’s a chance that you’ll suppress their fire, close the distance and get a better shot. There’s also a good chance that you’ll die. But see, you’re dead anyway, so you might as well die with a fighting chance.  “A guerilla unit cannot afford to stand still, and the overarching principle is fire and motion.”

God, what I wouldn’t give for a talk with the old man.

The update to WP 2.1 broke my blogroll. I’ll fix it later. Maybe I’ll even put in a long-overdue template change.

Meanwhile, stuff will be cross-posted to my Multiply account. And if you look very very carefully, there’ll be stuff there that you won’t find here or elsewhere.

WP 2.1 is code-named “Ella”, after the late great jazz vocalist.
