These are my links for June 15th through June 24th:
- Happy Birthday, Alan “Big Gay Al” Turing! — Global Nerdy – Alan Turing is the man. He developed the concept of the Turing Machine, which helped helped solidify the concepts of the algorithm and computability, came up with the Turing Test, broke German WWII ciphers, worked on one of the earliest true computers and has earned a place as one of the Giants of Computer Science. He’s been honoured with a computer language named after him (although he’d be appalled at the language itself).
- Right Of Publicity – The Right of Publicity is often misunderstood, in part because recognition of the Right of Publicity varies signficantly from state to state and country to country. This site was created to provide unbiased insight, resources and discussion on this complicated, often perplexing legal doctrine.
- Atlas Obscura | Wondrous, curious, and bizarre locations around the world – The Atlas Obscura is a collaborative project with the goal of cataloging all of the singular, eccentric, bizarre, fantastical, and strange out-of-the-way places that get left out of traditional travel guidebooks and are ignored by the average tourist.
- The Joy of Less – Happy Days Blog – NYTimes.com – Perhaps happiness, like peace or passion, comes most when it isn’t pursued.
- Christian Group to Produce “Clean” Pornography – A group of committed churchgoers, pastors and like-minded businesses have teamed up to fight America’s ‘moral decay’ by introducing a series of sanitized pornographic films modeled after biblical parables and featuring ethical lessons mixed in amongst ultra-softcore erotic scenes.
