End Then…
Got 5 out of 7 for my Oscar prediction. Really thought Monsters Inc. would get the Animated Feature Oscar. I enjoyed Shrek with its deconstructing the fairy tales bit(right Kantogirl?) but I think it had a lot of Hollywoord “inside jokes” — from the Disney dig with Farquaad’s castle to Lord Farquaad himself, reportedly a send-up of studio boss Michael Eisner. Call me old-fashioned but I want my movies to tell a story first before putting across any political agenda. Ah well.
In any case, it’s amazing how in all the 74 years of the Oscars, it’s the first time they’ve awarded it to an African-American lead actress.
And oh yeah…the awards show was pretty entertaining.
