A Pinoy Blog About Nothing

Today’s my last day of work at ABS-CBN Interactive. Yeah it’s my final official 31 minutes at my workdesk. My colleagues made me a collage of pictures and greetings on small post-it notes. It was really funny! I’d probably have it framed. Thanks guys!

I guess it’s much easier for me to say farewell to the office and the job and the people after my terminal leave. I had a much harder time emotionally when I gave my notice. I mean I did spend three years and seven months with the group even before it became a company. It’s not easy to walk away from it all after what we’ve been through — three office transfers, birthing one portal, revamping three sites, surviving two platform migrations, a rash of resignations, 2 Chat Fevers, 3 Urban Jungle events, one painful retrenchment, the constant threat of being closed down and then finally, getting the formula right and doing more than just breaking even.

But more important than that, is that I’m leaving some very nice people, and I’m leaving an environment where I’m surrounded by friends. That’s the tough part.

But growth means having to take risks. This time around it’s leaving a very comfortable place and starting over again — literally and figuratively from scratch.

This is an end to a chapter of my life.
Time to start a new one.
