Mediavore: Listening to my Favorite Red Head
I’ve had this one for weeks. Like Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink before it, Tori Amos’ Scarlet Walk seduces you into it’s own reality. Shady’s not only the one who’s back in town.
I love listening to A Sorta Fairytale (of course!), Mrs. Jesus, Taxi Ride and the sweet Gold Dust. Gone are the long harpischord stretches of From the ChoirGirl Hotel and To Venus & Back. Instead, my favorite redhead is often times with just the piano and her voice. The better to tell her stories with.
The album is an “enhanced CD” which means you can use it to access certain parts of Tori’s official site. It’s cool to follow Scarlet’s trek across the U.S. using the interactive map.

I liked Strange Little Girls…only I don’t consider it as a Tori album. :) I think she did it on a lark - Tori just jamming and having fun on existing personas which other people created (like Mathers’ Slim Shady for example).
G.A. is of course in whole different league. My favorite redhead was…is…an unattainable woman.
Her name is Jean Grey a.k.a. Marvel Girl a.k.a The Phoenix. Then again she doesn’t exist.
