Unfortunately, I’ve heard some of these gems from people who should know better. My favorites are highlighted. (Salamat kay Nikko.)

Hirit Pinoy

1. “The more the manyer.”
2. “It’s a no-win-win situation.”
3. “Burn the bridge when you get there.”
4. “Anulled and void.”
5. “Mute and academic.”
6. “C’mon let’s join us!”
7. “If worse comes to shove.”
8. “Are you joking my leg?”
9. “It’s not my problem anymore, it’s your problem anymore.”
10. “What are friends are for?”
11. “You can never can tell.”
12. “Well well well. Look do we have here!”
13. “Let’s give them a big hand of applause.”

17. “It’s a blessing in the sky.”
18. “Right there and right then.”
19. “Where’d you came from?”
20. “Take things first at a time.”
21. “You’re barking at the wrong dog.”
22. “You want to have your cake and bake it too.”
23. “First and for all.”
24. “Now and there.”

Bonus! My sister witnessed this exchange from one of my favorite beauty queen turned actress. Former Beauty Queen (FBQ) constant booboos is living proof English is still a second language for Filipinos. This time though she goes for theological revisionism.

Host: So, your new baby’s name is Abraham. Why did you name him Abraham?

FBQ: I named him Abraham because in the Bible, he’s my favorite Apostle.

(Baka di pa siya nakarating sa New Testament…baka lang naman…)
