Oktoberfest Na!

Checked out SMB’s Oktoberfest kick-off party at Eastwood, Libis last Friday. Traffic was horrible and we parked some ways off to avoid sitting in the car and missing the whole thing.

We got there just in time to catch the first band (Pinikpikan) to take the stage. We went around the different booths which were offering hair braiding (cornrows or dreadlocks), body piercing, face painting, fortune telling all for the price of several tumblers of beer. Yup. You can have a belly button piercing for only 7 tumblers of beer. (Now that I think about it, after 7 tumblers of beer, I think you can be persuaded to do pretty much anything. Just hope the guy doing the piercing aren’t required to consume the same amounts as their clients.)

Some restaurants put up food booths which were okay if only they had more tables and chairs. A couple of student fraternity groups also had booths but were limited to pork barbecues and hotdogs.

It rained a bit and the parking lot cleared out but that didn’t last long. Before long we were wading through a sea of people again. Daming tao! We only got to True Faith (they were the 4th band I think) before we decided to sit down at a restaurant to rest and get a decent meal.

Eastwood was packed that night. Wall to wall college kids and off duty yuppies were trying very hard to enjoy a balmy night out. When we walked back to where we parked the car, at around 2 am, people were still trying to go into Eastwood. Traffic was still backed-up up to the Blue Ridge gate. Crazy.

I’m getting too old for this. But hell it was fun. ;)

Please bear with me on the lay-out. It’s taking longer than I thought…

  1. Excited na ko. Is it gonna be a radical departure from the present one? BTW, check out allconsuming.net.

Tis cool: it “watches weblogs for books that they’re talking about, and displays the most popular ones on an hourly basis. You can also use this site to add a list of books to your own weblog”.

  2. Would you believe, around 30,000 people were there at the Oktoberfest!

True Faith wasn’t the 4th band playing… bands started playing around 5pm, yun nga lang di kilala. :)

  3. Hi Jill! We caught the last part of the fireworks display which was followed by the hosts to intro Pinikpikan. Didn’t know there were bands before that. Can’t wait for the next one. :)

  4. Nyar! SARAP nang inuman sa pinas. Forget the underage drinking, mas mura ang beer dyan! Pati pulutan!
