Dead Tree Enjoyment
I made the mistake of going to the bookstore earlier tonight. Fully Booked at the Power Plant mall have books which I want need:
Living to Tell the Tale by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
* Marquez’s latest and the first book of a planned trilogy.Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson
* Stephenson’s prequel of sorts to the awesome Cryptonomicon. It’s also book 1 of an intended trilogy. (What’s with trilogies these days?)The Singapore Story: Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew by Lee Kuan Yew
* Because I’m just curious about the man. A couple of days ago, I caught a part of his interview and his views are sensible and different. I want to find out more about him.Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit : A Son Remembers by Sean Hepburn Ferrer
* Yes, it’s that Audrey Hepburn. I’m a fan and it’s written by his son.Diary: A Novel by Chuck Palahniuk
Speaking with the Angel edited by Nick Hornby
* Just for the sheer enjoyment of reading these guys.Dungeons and Dreamers: The Rise of Computer Game Culture from Geek to Chic by Brad King, John Borland
* An insight on the creative process of putting together computer games. Might prove to be a nice resource for some article in the future.
The sad thing is, even if I do manage to get hold a copy of these books, I still have a backlog of books to read and I won’t get to read them till much, much, much later. Damn this book fetish!
Oh and by the way - Sting also has also released his memoirs called Broken Music: A Memoir. (And that makes me feel old.)

I had to rub and re-rub (almost losing my contact lens) my eyes when I saw “Eleven Minutes”, the latest novel of Paolo Coelho in Fully Booked last week. It was supposed to be released in April 2004 (accdg to Amazon.com) but it was there. Divine Intervention maybe.

Junnie, yeah saw the Coelho stacks too. They must be getting ready for the Xmas season. But man! Why did they have to ship in all at once?

Like yourself, I have to keep up with a stack of unread material and at the same time, I keep buying books that I only get to read much later, sometimes years after purchase. Then you see the same titles at a used bookstore like Booksale for like a third of their original price.
Heh.
