A Pinoy Blog About Nothing

Cut me some slacks, pare!

Happy New Year!

Personally, most of 2003 was spent in a holding pattern. No major milestone (unlike 2002 I suppose) till latter part of the year. I’m just thankful of all the abundant blessings for me and my family. I’m just happy we have our health and each other — I won’t trade that for any major drama, imagined or otherwise.

It was a very interesting year for blogging. I’ve gladly dove into new and interesting reads and happy to know that some of the people which have embraced blogging earlier are still around, the occasional break or two notwithstanding…

As the year ends, I have a few wishes for the people and things which made it into my blog. Santa might have forgotten to drop these off but I hope sometime in the New Year these things would find their way to the recipients.

My wish for 2004…

Like in the Wizard of Oz I wish a heart for Fernando Poe Jr. so that he’ll really feel what’s the best for the country at this point; courage for President Gloria to not run for president as she had promised earlier; and again in 2004 I’m still wishing for Erap to grow a brain.

For Peter Jackson, an Oscar for Best Director for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If James Cameron can win one for Titanic I don’t see why PJ can’t have one. (Oh and don’t bring up the Spielberg scenario…)

For Hollywood to stop putting Ben Affleck in ‘action movies’. Yeah like I can suspend disbelief that he can be Daredevil or believe he can be a reverse engineer in Paycheck (more on that in my next post). And yes, IMHO Matt Damon’s the better actor.

For Star Wars Episode III to NOT suck.

For Angeline Jolie: a better follow up movie to Taking Lives.

For Orlando Bloom to stop appearing in period flicks. Geez he’s in Kingdom of Heaven (movie set during the Crusades) and also in Troy? Unless of course he’s gunning to be this generation’s Errol Flynn. Nyahahaha.

For the local movie industry to grow up.

For the Zeta Reticulans to bring back the Michael Jackson they abducted circa the Off the Wall album and take back the one they’ve replaced him with.

For OPM to be diverse again like it was back in 1994-1997.

More massive multiplayer online games like Ragnarok Online!

For the Tagline folks, a better crop of movies to dissect, discuss and diss in 2004.

For Budjette, a kick-ass comic book story. And more coffee.

For Ibalik, more chances to explore Inang Bayan and a bigger audience for his pictures.

For Nic, a tailor made romantic-comedy/road movie.

For Trixy, peace of mind and heart.

For Emer, the promise of 2004. And hot sex.

For Jovan and Cha, best wishes and a wonderful engagement.

For Mirs, less Cheetos-moments and more cause for celebrations.

For Shiloah, a virtual bugspray which lasts for 3 hours so that she can enjoy Return of the King despite Shelob. And more coffee.

For Junnie, here’s to more beautiful things around us.

For Din, more great moments for your family…and more badminton time.

For Ms. Mona, more qt with the new daughter and her boys.

For Daniel, more blessings and no lost cellphones in 2004.

For Meg, more indiefilipinoness in 2004.

For Bulletproof Vest, more Ruffa fans to annoy!

For The Wily Filipino, more great music and literature and headway in the pursuit of the better adobo.

For The Sassy Lawyer, more good news to blog about and more intelligent commentators in her blog. Oh and less comment spam.

For Pau, live long and prosper! (And less Da Vinci code fans and more tableless sites.)

For Spank Granny, more game time.

For Antifaust, more lives saved and healers who share your vision.

For Kanto Girl, more interesting students and movies.

For Tintin, less headaches from clients.

For bloggers everywhere, more interesting things to blog about, more time to blog about it, and finding the voice to blog it with.

And for the Filipino people, may the 2004 elections bring us good leaders, a better economy, peace and less shitheads to have access to media.

From me and the missus, we wish each and everyone of you a great New Year ahead!

See you guys next year.
