Para Maiba Naman: Linkahola
To break the LOTR streak, I’m posting a couple of links that might prove interesting for some of youse. (I don’t why I just did that…)
* New Kill Bill Vol. 2 trailer. Something about how QT shoots Uma Thurman that really flatters her. John Woo’s DP didn’t do her justice in Paycheck (I know I should be posting my comments on that and on Last Samurai as well…)
* Ever wonder, woman? Bad puns aside, no one outside Lynda Carter has attempted to do a Wonder Woman TV/movie. (There’s that instance where Cathly Lee Crosby starred in a movie as WW and Geri Haliwell dressed up as WW too but let’s pretend those didn’t happen.) I gag at the suggestion Sandra Bullock might do it. In any case, here’s a short film featuring the Amazon Princess: Wonder Woman: Battle for Justice. And as a bonus, here’s a very good Batman short as well: Batman: Dead End.
* Looks like there are a couple (to say the least!) of good movies at the Sundance Film Festival this year according to this article on the New York Times (subscription required to access - but it’s free so sign up).
For starters there’s that documentary on Imelda Marcos, in which she participated, would be bound to be entertaining if only to try catching all her lies. It already won Best Cinematography for a Documentary at the festival.
And then there’s the movie version of Che Guevara’s Motorcycle Diaries in which the young Che will be played by Gael “Papa ng Bayan” Garc?a Bernal. I think Bernal is a good actor and I’m thinking he would pull it off playing a young Che. Another factor working for him is that Walter Salles, the director of the Brazilian movie Central Station did the movie. Should be good. It’ll probably take 5 years before we see it here locally.
The documentary Super Size Me where the director agreed “to eat nothing but McDonald’s food for one month to see what effect it would have on his body” wherein “both he and his doctors were amazed to find that after just 20 days, the 33-year-old Mr. Spurlock, who started in supreme physical condition, was almost in liver failure”. It won the Documentary Directing Award for Mr. Spurlock. Should be interesting stuff.
Also there’s that documentary about Metallica where the filmmakers followed the band for 2 years. It’s like a very long Behind the Music, I’d imagine.
* If Bill Gates would have his way, we’ll have digital postage stamps on our email and if our email gets marked as spam, we pay for the ‘postage.’ I wonder if we’d also get to choose if we like digital Young Elvis or digital Las Vegas Elvis.
* Responding to a post on Sassy Lawyer’s site, I wanted to check if the new Pinay nurse (semi-regular member of the cast, I take it) on the medical drama TV show ER, is indeed playing a heavy. Couldn’t find any specific reference though. (Any of our friends Stateside who follow the show care to clarify?)
Anyway, Fil-Am Liza del Mundo plays a Filipina nurse on ER. This interview contains some insights on the character she plays and how she got it. It also contains a snippet of the now infamous dinuguan episode.
* To cap this post off, doctors are fearful that model Jordan’s trip to the jungle might be perilous. They’re scared that if a leech bites her 34FF boobs, they might explode. I am not making this up.

You know, I made an earlier post on that Imelda docu and commenters are asking me to tell them where they could get a copy. Controversial pa rin si Madam!
