Looks like I’ve been missing a lot of good cinema treats lately:
The Triplets of Belleville (nominated in this year’s Oscars for Best Animated Film) was screened at the Animation Festival last Feb. 7. Tim Burton’s Big Fish was screened at the Pelikula at Lipunan last Feb 11. The ‘lost film’ Zamboanga by Eduardo de Castro, which stars a young Fernando Poe also last Feb. 11.
There’s another screening of Zamboanga on the 15th and John Red’s Astig on the 13th but I wouldn’t want to be caught out on the crazy streets this weekend. Ah well. I shall be hunkering down at home with my dvds (Veronica Guerin, Runaway Jury, Monster) away from all youse crazy peeps.
PS. There’s a lot of Asian movies in major theaters in the past weeks like Shiri, A Tale Of Two Sisters, A Good Lawyer’s Wife, Magic Kitchen, Sky Of Love, The Grudge Ju-On (which is being remade by Hollywood with Sarah Michelle Gellar, hi boo shivers!), Wishing Stairs, The Twins Effect. I suspect not all of these movies will be good (check out Nic’s reviews on some) but at least we’re having more choices. I hope I can watch some of them especially the horror movies.
Oh and I will watch that Piolo-Claudine movie called Milan (hey you know…a good looking movie is a halfway decent movie for me).

never even heard of sky of love until i saw it there, but from the looks of it (i am biased against any movie with somebody from f4), the korean ditto is a better bet, with exactly the same plot.
shiri was a 2000 hit (it’s about time it made it there), and i heard ju-on was alright (i’m not big on horror).
i’m noticing that any movie with an f4 star in it gets shown almost immediately (magic kitchen was a chinese new year hk hit), and f4 is so 2002 when are we ever going to realize it. no wonder acts like boyz ii men and james ingram who couldn’t fill a high school auditorium anywhere else play at packed stadiums in manila.
but that’s just me without my jasmine tea :) sorry for hijacking, but mark, don’t you still work in ortigas? just moved to emerald, haven’t actually moved in yet, but wanna have some dvd swaps? i’d like to watch some of the better english movies…

Runaway Jury is… well I’ve seen it so I won’t spoil it for you. Gene Hackman was great, as usual.

Hey Nic! No you’re not hijacking and your comments are always welcome.
But yeah any movie with an F4 cast member gets automatically bumped down on my movies to watch list.
