Movies: Paycheck
Ok. This is a long time coming. This John Woo helmed, Philip K. Dick inspired action movie will finally be shown locally this week. The short of it: I still can’t buy Ben Affleck as an action hero. Sure he was ok in Sum of All Fears but only because he wasn’t trying to be Rambo. Couldn’t buy him as Daredevil, can’t buy him a wily reverse engineer in Paycheck. He should stay with romantic-comedies and let Matt Damon play action-man. In fact, while watching this movie, I can’t help but feel Uma Thurman could’ve kicked the bad guys asses with less effort.
The movie started with an intriguing sci-fi premise - how far would a corporation go to enforce a non-disclosure agreement (in the future, they’ll wipe out your memory)? John Woo’s action sequences are flawless and thrilling as usual but in between, the thriller aspect just couldn’t hold up. Watch at home just for car/bike-chase.

Non sequitur, but…
Had Emer of Bangus not posted a comment on my blog, I wouldn’t have known of the new address. Gee, when your domain went pffftt! I knew even your e-mail wouldn’t work.
Glad you’re back. (”,)
