And this week’s Sean Penn Geez Lighten Up Award goes to the Vatican for appointing a cardinal to debunk Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.
Errr wasn’t that book classified as fiction? Don’t you guys have anything better to do like…working on stopping world hunger, achieving world peace, or at the very least stopping priests from molesting young children? (via)

Yan din ang reaction ko nung nabasa ko tong news na ‘to a few days ago.
If the Catholic Church trusts the people, I don’t think they should worry. A (crappy) bestseller wouldn’t even shake the faithful’s beliefs.

I know they have every right to do so but it just seems a waste of resources. It reminds me of how the Vatican devoted their energy studying Nudism in the 1930s and trying to find out if it’s a threat to Catholicism when at the same time, Nazism was rearing its ugly head in Europe.

Waste of time and resources lang talaga. Dan Brown wouldn’t have been successful if it weren’t for a topic that any thinking Catholic would ask and posit. Isn’t asking part of finding the truth? By singling out Brown and the book, they’re just putting more focus on it.

They should also appoint a cardinal to debunk Holy Blood, Holy Grail. Oh and uh that computer game called Gabriel Knight 3 that DARED to suggest that Jesus would appoint a buncha Germans to be supernatural detective-hunters.
