The Pacifier
… is a waste of time and money.
One of my guilty pleasures is watching Vin Diesel in xXx, The Fast and the Furious and even as the voice of his Pitch Black character in the animated Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (I’d recommend this for the animation, btw). This one won’t make that list.
Diesel is S.E.A.L. officer Shane Wolfe assigned to guard the family of a deceased defense technology egghead. Kids + Uptight Military Man + duck = hilarity, right? That’s what Disney hoped will happen. Sorry, didn’t happen. Even with Everybody Loves Raymond’s Brad Garrett thrown in the mix, the supposed comedy bits weren’t very original and were quite predictable. You might have seen them before too — in the trailer of the movie.
So avoid like the plague. Or if you’re dying to watch it, wait for it in the bargain bin or rent it out. Just make sure you have the option to return it.

Hey, Mark! I’m glad you brought up Vin Diesel. It turns out (unless you already know this) that he plays D&D–he even wrote the Intro for last year’s 30th anniversary book about the history of D&D.

Oh I don’t know. I actually hated all of Vin’s other movies except for this one and Iron Giant. I guess it’s because it was a joy watching him make a fool of himself.

…pansin ko nga :P
sa totoo lang, i never really liked Vin Diesel. siguro dahil sa sobrang “man made of stone” image niya eh wala akong nakikitang emosyon kapag umaarte siya. wahahaha :P
nga pala, gusto ko yung list ng radio blog mo ngayon. yaaaay. :D

walang ko-kontra … i think vin diesel is hot. not becuase of the muscles; but the voice. my opinion …
speaking of xxx: getting a fat rapper to replace vin diesel in the sequel is just … wrong.

hi mark! i meeezyou! i was gonna watch the pacifier this week because i loved that scene where vin diesel drives the kids to school and when the girl gets down, she hugs the grass lawn right outside her door and yells, “laaaaand!” now, since i know if you say so then it must be true, i’m rethinking my plan. about his acting though, well, i thought he was really empathetic in saving private ryan.

Hey Jesse! Yup I saw him on Conan. Weird knowing he played D&D (see link in comment section above). And that he used to be a telemarketer too.
Hey Pau! Thanks for dropping by. I agree Diesel looked totally like a clown in that movie but in a bad way I think.
Vanya, not only that, Diesel *can* be funny. I just think he needs the right vehicle.
Hey Mona! I like the voice, that’s why Dark Fury was good because his voice was perfect with awesome animation. Oh and did you know he was the voice of the Iron Giant? True he didn’t have much by way of dialogue but it was perfect casting.
JOELLLE! Hey Tiny Dancer! I miss you and Lomolady too. Unfortunately that scene with the little girl worked better in the trailer. It was much longer in the movie and didn’t quite work as well. Diesel was good in Private Ryan. Of course Spielberg wrote the part with him in mind. Nice to have friends in high places, no?
