RadYo! Mukha Mo!
Halika, Biyahe Tayo!
A friend just gave us a cd that came with Magic Sing karaoke mic - the de rigueur appliance it seems for any Filipino gathering. At least the ones I’ve been to. It seems that the Philippines’ Department of Tourism and the Magic Sing people had this brilliant idea of combining karaoke and promoting tourism to the Philippines. It seems to be working since most of the non-Pinoys joining in the sing-along fun seem to be amazed by the promotional pictures packaged with the new Magic Sing. It’s better than the usual unrelated pictures accompanying the songs anyway.
Easter Weekend in the Philippines usually signals the start of the summer season. That’s when local tourist try to get some sun in Galera or turn Boracay into Greenbelt 4. It’s the best time to go up to Sagada or the Mt. Province as the roads seem to be more stable than the rainy seasons. This week’s theme is about some Philippine scenes immortalized in songs. And this week’s bonus - karaoke time!
1. Sponge Cola - Jeepney
2. Sida A - Manila
3. Sampaguita - Laguna
4. Put3Ska - Manila Girl
5. Parokya ni Edgar - Batangas Coffee
6. Juan de la Cruz Band - Mamasyal sa Pilipinas
7. Juan de la Cruz Band - Beep Beep
8. Joey Ayala - Maglakad
9. Eraserheads - Overdrive
10. Barbie’s Cradle - Limang Diapng Tao
11. Alamid - Batibot

Ayan! Hindi na ako ang susugurin (at bubulabugin) ng mga naghahanap ng Biyahe Tayo (sa wakas). :D
Oo nga pala ang konyo ni Jessa Zaragosa sa kanyang yan. O baka ako lang ‘to. Siargao ba o Surigao? Parang ang ewan kasi ng pagkakapronounce eh, o baka nga me ganong lugar. ^_^;;

Yep, it’s Siargao, a regular surfer’s paradise.
Op kors, Siargao is also in Surigao if I remember correctly. ;-)

Korek. Siargao is in Surigao del Norte. That’s where my mom was born. Hopefully that’s where we’d also retire…tara na biyahe tayo!
Reminiscent of Band Aid and USA for Africa, this one was the best of the best of OPM sans Barbie’s Cradle (heheh)

I first heard about Siargao when my then girlfriend-now-my-wife was working with a travel site. Saw pictures and videos of people surfing. It looked beautiful and yeah I don’t mind retiring there. Or any beach front property in the Philippines for that matter.
Heard this song before I left the Pinas. I wanted a copy but it wasn’t available then. And yes, maarte lang talaga pagkakakanta ni Jessa Zaragosa ng parts niya. Fake parang…

Yeah. Better than less-than-photogenic models they put in your videoke sa kanto. Although I won’t put it past some demented freak to post half nekkid chicks to promote sex tours to the Phil. Some of my more hormonally overcharged caucasians friends keep asking me about where in the Phil they can score and how much. Oy. Stereotypes. I just ask them where they park their trailers.

first: saan ba makakakuha ng playlist ng magic sing? my sister - OFW syempre - left us with one and like any pinoy, you get the urge to sing but i don’t have the time and the desire to scroll through the thousands plus list!
second: wa akong knowledge sa pag-layout ng blog kaya tuloy-tuloy ang blog namin. where do i go to get the info? (preferably webmaking for dummies style).
thanks!
