Putting the Hay in Mabuhay!

Blah Blah Blogs

Writers write about writing. Doctors get together for err doctoring. So I guess it’s inevitable that bloggers get together to talk about blogging.

iblog It’s not too late yet to participate in iBlog - The 1st Philippine Blogging Summit tomorrow (May 8 ) at UP NISMED. If you’re going, say hello to Emer of Bangus Supremacy. He was in charge of putting together the event blog. He’ll be that thin guy in the Darth Vader mask. :D

blogher Across the Pacific, there’s BlogHer, also a blogging conference at Santa Clara, California on July 30. They’ll be talking about how to be naked. Seriously. I’m not making it up.

  1. Mark, organize ka ng “blogmomukhamo superduper blog summit”. Then sit back and watch the hilarity that something like this will bring. ;)

  2. mark SHOULD have been a speaker (probably an opening keynote that would have been hilarious). but alas, we couldn’t afford to fly him in :(. maybe next time.

would have been fun to be there as vader and crush some tracheas. alas, i was more of an R2 unit. sticking things into ports, laying down cables, wheeling around and getting shot at. and i had to leave early to attend jovan and charo’s wedding. that was a load of fun too :)

Mark, do you still remember when you started blogging? Well, back then “blog” wasn’t yet a term that was in use… but I remember doing an online diary of sorts as early as 1997… and I know I got it from you. Do you still have an archive of your oldest entries? I’m really frustrated that I can no longer find copies of my old entries… the earliest I can find was 1999…

  4. John, if I organized a blogging conference, it would feature strippers, midgets and clowns. And the speakers will be behind a wire-mesh. :)

Emer, I’m glad you guys had a good turn-out. Ano kwento from Jovan and Cha’s wedding? Where are the pics?

Hi Gerry! I tried salvaging my old archives and transferred most of them here. I lost some entries transferring from one host to another. It’s on the second/middle column. I could only go back Sept 2000. Have you tried looking for your old entries on http://www.archive.org/? Hope that helps.

Yes, the Wayback Machine has been really helpful in my finding my old entries back before I used blogger.com, specially in 1999 and 2000. Unfortunately, their robot didn’t find my site in 1997 and much of 1998 so I no longer have any record of it. Sayang…

  6. Well that explains the R2 unit going around beeping. Buti na lang walang wookie. ;-)

Wow. You’ve been doing for how long?

  7. Hey Gerry! I’ve lost most of my pre-2000 sites too. Hand-coded html pages! :) Unfortunately, the Wayback Machine is the only archiving site I know of. Have you tried looking for a site there which links back to your previous site? I tried that once and found some bits and pieces of my old site. Unfortunately, WBM didn’t archive the entire site. Ah well.

Banzai, I had the fortune of having free Internet access. :)
