It’s Alive! Aliiiiive!

It’s a mix of George Romero’s zombies and Stephen King’s Pet Sematary: scientists have successfully resuscitated clinically dead dogs back into life. Not I am not kidding. No, it’s not related to that “Cambodian zombism” either.

The Safar Center for Resuscitation, the same guys who pioneered the development of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), said their researchers were able to “develop a technique in which subject’s veins are drained of blood and filled with an ice-cold salt solution”. They were able to revive the popsicle-doggies three hours later by replacing the blood and then subjecting them to an electric shock. This chilling development on emergency hypothermia look to treat combat casualties or lethal hemorrhaging on civilians in the future. Watch the video here.

I guess it’s time to save up for that cryonics services just in case and go Vanilla Sky. Ok that part I’m kidding. Also see cryogenics vs cryonics.

  1. Eeek! I’m packing my bags and guns and heading towards the jungle. Definitely not going to stick around for zombies to come out of the woodwork because of some stupid scientific msitake ala ‘28 Days Later’…

  2. Banzai I forgot about the 28 Days Later bit. But can you imagine the possibilities? I can revive my pet hamster who die years ago! My pet chihuahua! My math teacher!
