Another Day, Another Chapter
Updates from Manila, so far:
* Jove gives us the hustle and bustle at the Palace. Seemed like there’s very little of governance and a lot of politics going on.
* MLQIII lays-out the story so far - PGMA backed by former Prez Ramos has decided to dig in. Former Prez Cory, Susan Roces, the middle-class and the big businesses have called for the president to resign as VP Kabayan fence-sits. And of course you have the pot calling the kettle black and the Erap camp trying to take advantage of the situation.
* Brownpau has a round-up on recent Gloriagate happenings as well as a modest proposal.
* The folks at PCIJ continue to cover the events unfolding around Manila.
The only component lacking in the Resign Gloria camp is the military/police. PGMA of course can mobilize them to restore some order and project a semblance of control. Outside of the Armed Forces voicing their support for either camps, it looks like a quick resolution to the issue would be unlikely. Meanwhile, the economy grinds to a halt amidst all the uncertainty.
Writer Neil Gaiman, arriving in Manila for his book signing tour, mentions the Makati rally yesterday afternoon and the general mood of the capital from the point of view of an outsider. Interesting as always. If anything, he’d have more fodder for his stories.

Hi Janette! She can last her entire term if she wanted I think. She has a lot of resources at her disposal to make sure of it. Will she be an effective leader throughout her term? No.
