Enter the Statue
I just had to mention this: the Bosnian City of Mostar has decided to erect a statue of actor and martial arts icon, Bruce Lee as a “symbol of unity” and “representing justice.” Whatever works for peace right?
Reminds of the same feeling I had when I first heard about the statue of Jose Rizal in Germany.
(So shall we expect that after the Great Dentists and Orthodontists War of 2086, they’ll also erect a statue of Tom Cruise?)

I was rather surprised to see a bust of Jose Rizal when I was in (of all places) Alaska earlier this year. In the city of Juneau, they have a small area called “Manila Square” dedicated to all the Filipino workers that migrated to Alaska to work in the mines, etc in the early 20th century.
Hence lots of photos of me and my family with Jose Rizal in Alaska.

Wow, Rizal in Alaska? He is a world travelling indio isn’t he? I know from a friend who’s been to Alaska that there are a lot of Pinoys there too. Didn’t know there’s a Rizal statue there. Have to look that up if we find ourselves in that neck of the woods. :)
