California Dreaming*

Blog and surfing time have been reduced because we’re gearing up to pull up the stakes and move again. Just 15 more days before the big move and details need to be ironed out. It’s not like we can call Lipat-Bahay and make arrangements and be done with it.

I’m not much of a ‘mover’. The wife’s more of the nomad. For every one of my residential transfers, she would have had three. While moving homes are institutionalized here and therefore services are well entrenched, when you’re moving 2,508 miles (4,036 km) away you do tend to anticipate for various scenarios that may come up. Like leaving your underwear behind, for example.

Some interesting stuff on the web (that’s not on the column on the right):

Jessica Zafra’s real blog. Apparently there are people pretending to be her online. (Thanks for the txt msg Budj)

Another local writer whose work I miss is right here: Milk and Blood. (She didn’t identify herself in the blog so I won’t “out” her.)

And yeah I tend to like Filipino writers who actually try to entertain and communicate and NOT just trying to win awards.

‘How’s your first day of school?’

‘Not so bad. The teacher was nice. My classmates are all cool. And oh, we just had to exorcise a minor demon. No biggie.’

You’ve probably heard by now that Daniel Craig has been officially named as the new James Bond. The Casino Royale movie takes place early in Bond’s career hence the search for a younger actor.

Dunno about the choice. He was underwhelming in the Tomb Raider movie - then again Ms. Jolie tend to draw all the attention from the less than beautiful people which shares her screen ( I think that’s why Mr. & Mrs. Smith worked). I haven’t seen Layer Cake. That and no Q and Ms. Moneypenny. What next? No Bond Girls? My choice would’ve been Jason Statham. Yup. The Transporter dude.

And following that old adge about not quitting your day job, Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed up for a 4th Terminator and a sequel to True Lies. I wonder if I should pitch my T4 story. Heh.

Oh goody. (Ahem.)

*Yeah I know. Retro music reference. Would you rather have me quoting the “Californiaaaaaa! CaliFORNIAAAAAAAAAA!” theme from the OC?

Which reminds me, maybe you can look up Dennis Sison. You have to remember him. If you do see him, tell him his high scholl ketchup brother says hey. (Long story.)

And what’s this (”And yeah I tend to like Filipino writers who actually try to entertain and communicate and NOT just trying to win awards.”) about? Sino ito?

A cool new version of your website layout, this is.
