Pasko Na, Shintaro

by mcg

Shintaro A long in coming follow-up to A Survival Guide to a Pinoy Christmas I’ve decided to do a Pinoy take on misheard Christmas lyrics. Deck the halls with Buddy Holly anyone?

It is just not a Pinoy Christmas without the parol, Simbang Gabi and of course, those wacky wacky street carollers. Of course most of these carollers are the local neighborhood kids who have flattened tansans to make tambourines. And the kicker there of course is they don’t know the exact lyrics to the Christmas carols they’re singing. Which of course doesn’t stop them from singing. Here are some memorable ones:

Pasko Na, Shintaro
Hanap, hanap kita

(I didn’t know Gary V. was a fan of the show.)

***

Kay lamig ng simoy ng hangin
may mga magnanakaw sa amin
binuksan ang mga bintana
tinanggay pati mga bata

(Madami nga naman akyat-bahay lalo na kapag Simbang Gabi)

***

Kay sigla ng gabi
ang lahat ay kay saya
nag luto ang ate
ng manok sa MINOLA

(Syempre paano mo pri-prito yung manok?)

***

Sa may bahay
ang alogbati
Merry Krismas
ang alogbati

(This could’ve much much worse.)

***

Bagong taon ay mag bagong-buhay
Nang lumigaya ang ating bayan
Tayo’y magsikap upang makamtan
Natin ang KAMAG-ANAKAN

(Must be a bunch of orphans. Sad, really.)

***

Let’s sing Merry Christmas
And a happy holiday
This season, may we never forget
The love we have for Jesus
LETTER B THE ONE to guide us
As another new year starts
And may the spirit of Christmas
Be always in our heart

(Jose Mari Chan Christmas songs are annoying from the start. They’re played constantly and remains in your head until Lent. How could anyone murder these lyrics?)

Feel free to add any more mangled, murdered, ripped and shredded Pinoy Christmas Carols.

Merry na Christmas pa sa inyong lahat! :)
