Good bye Ka Ernie Baron!

This made me sad: Broadcaster Ernie Baron dies . Heart attack from diabetes.

Whatever you think of the man, the Living Encyclopedia, was entertaining. When I used to go home late and the cab driver would tune in to his radio shows and he’ll try to answer his caller’s questions. Of course there were instances he’d be waffling and stalling on air before he answered them but answer them he did. He gets irked whenever a student would call to try and ask him to answer their homework. Kinda like these guys. “Assignment mo yan ‘no?” he’d say on air and proceeds to ignore them.

Bye Ka Ernie. I hope your Baron Super Antenna still sells though.

Yup. Heard this from the Magandang Umaga Bayan fellow newscasters of Channel 2. Shuks, I’ve learned a lot from his Knowledge Power show.

    Bye, Ernie.

I live in down south and would go home everyday late and just in time for his ‘Knowledge Power’ show. He kept me awake where FM staions failed. He doesnt know me but to me he was a Friend, a Mentor and a dear companion through my long trip from Makati to Laguna. He made me laugh when I was Sad and never failed to entertain us all. I will forever miss you Ka Ernie… lipat na lang ako Maynila. Mahaba ang byahe pag walang kasama…

  8. what got me wondering was, how come complicatiosn from diabetes ang ikinamatay niya? ibig sabihin ba nun, ‘di niya ginagamit ‘yung mga ineendorso niyang mga elixirs?

I love ka Ernie Baron a lot. When I heard the news, I was really saddened. I was in highschool when I started listening to his radio program and watching his weather report on TV Patrol.
I remembered one time when questions of the callers are limited into two, a young girl wants to ask more, she asked why it is limited to two, why are those who answers the call asked what would their question be, he replied, there are many callers and to accomodate more, we have to limit it into two and so that the questions would not be redundant. The young girl then was pretty much satisfied, the conversation just ended with the young girl telling… MANG ERNIE I LOVE YOU. Likewise, wherever you are Ka Ernie, I LOVE YOU.
