Landslide kills at least 200 in Southern Leyte. 1,500 still missing. (ABS-CBN reports 2,000 dead.)
This hits a bit close to home. Petite’s parents are just 2 km away from the landslide. Although we got word they’re safe, the danger is far from over. The non stop rains and the denuded forest is a very lethal combination. We’re hoping it won’t be a repeat of (WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES) Ormoc and of Quezon.
According to the CNN report, Dick Gordon, head of the Philippine Red Cross is in Geneva. Hurry home, Dick. Skip Torino. We need someone to talk to the Americans to lend the Red Cross heavy-lift copters.
Hay buhay.
Update: if you’re interested in helping out the survivors, Petite has some ideas.
