State of Emergency

EDSA mo mukha mo. 20 years and we’ve learned nothing.

After weeks of rumors of coup and declarations of being in control, PGMA declared a State of Emergency after troops loyal to the government supposedly nipped a military uprising in the bud. That and it seems like protestors and police have clashed at the EDSA Shrine. A general has been arrested in relation to the plot as well as columnist Randy David supposedly for leading a march without a permit (got that from text msgs from the Phil…sorry can’t find a link to that story for confirmation more info here).

Details are sketchy from where we are. Just some mention in the local broadcast of trouble in the Philippines. As usual Jove’s got the low down. The INQ7 site seems to be spitting out “connection timed out” as of this posting.

Not a fan of PGMA but this is no way to get her off the President’s Office. It’s going to hurt the country more than it’ll do it good.
Oh and remember that Marcos once used the “threats to the country” excuse to declare Martial Law. Let’s not let that happen again.

Politics as contact sport. Feh.

  1. anlabo nga eh. i don’t know what they are trying to accomplish. haaay.

  2. All means possible should be exhausted to ensure that every Filipino is fully aware and concerned with the very disturbing events of the past few days. We should all speak up before it becomes dangerous and illegal for us to do so.
