So Internet god Google and sneaker pimps Nike decide to launch a social networking site to go up against MySpace, Friendster and Facebook. The Internet + Overpriced Sneakers = Techno Savvy Health Nuts. Must be their way of weeding out couch potatoes, pale-skinned goth emos and snarky sleep-deprived GaM3rz right?
Unfortunately, very much like how Coca-Cola in Chinese translates to “Bite the Wax Tadpole“, Google and Nike’s offspring has the unfortunate name of Joga.com. Yes, Pinoys. Go ahead and guffaw.
For the non-Tagalog slang speakers out there, joga or more accurately dyoga, is a crude Tagalog term for female breasts. (Is there a Tagalog term for man-boobs? Dyogo?) (via)
Update: Apparently, joga is a Brazilian/Portuguese term for 3 on 3 football/soccer.
