* Oh did you know? Peter Parker is Spider-Man. Marvel unmasks Spidey. (via)

* Hey if you’ve stayed up late and wondered what Steven Seagal is up to these days — wonder no more! He’s singing. So stop thinking about him already.

* One of things that we were discussing - a digital music service which carried Filipino music and artists. Last week I saw this: Fliptunes.net. But seriously — Windows DRM? Has anyone tried this? (via Jobert)

* Hey Husserl! Ontologize This! The Martin Heidegger Action Figure Those philo classes would’ve been more fun if I had this.

* Where’s Neil When You Need Him? The Neil Gaiman tribute CD looks interesting. (via)

* If It Ain’t Broke: Two things I’m not very excited about: Americanized Battle Royale (unless it’s by QT) and Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai remake with George Effin’ Clooney. Ocean’s Seven Samurai?

* Interesting rebuttal to Al Gore’s claim in the Incovenient Truth.

* YouTube Karaoke or Why I Don’t Miss Noontime Variety Shows Yet: “Keys Me / Beat in the Verdict Valeet / Nightly … / V-Side the Green Green Grass” I think it was supposed to be Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer. (thanks for the fwd, Budj!)

  1. Hey Mark! I remembered you saying about looking for Coupland’s new book and I saw this review that said it was really bad:

    http://www.seattleweekly.com/arts/0624/coupland.php

As for Steven Seagal, hey, if MC Hammer can be a judge for Dance Fever, does that mean has-beens will never die, they just get as recycled?

Ditto for Spiderman– it was even reported on local websites like ABS-CBN. Weird. *shrugs*

  2. thanks for the link, Banzai. yeah I already got the book and it’s definitely…different

the Spider-Man stunt is exactly what it is: a stunt, very much like Superman’s “death.” they’d probably find a way to make his identity a secret again.

but yeah it opens up Spidey for new story possibilities. I can’t wait for J.Jonah’s reaction when he finds out Parker is the same guy menacing him all these years.

  3. … unless they’re already come up with plans on how Spidey’s unmasking was some kind of alternate world or history and that it never happened? Hah!

  4. Lousy Marvel! If they cop out in any way shape or form, they’d lose more readers. I was a huge Marvel fan before Sandman spoiled me for comics. I got sick of the huge X-Men mega-ultra-super crossover events. Unforgiveable that they were a) expensive for a college student, b) boring, predictable stories, c) they’d retract/erase/rationalize the events in latter issues. The last Marvel books I’ve picked up were Brian Michael Bendis’ run on Daredevil and Gaiman’s Eternals.
