Had a 3-day pass but only went there for 2. Too many people on Saturday. Plus a storm didn't make the commute any easier. I think it's best to be inside by morning to avoid the crowd which swells in the afternoon.

Time Magazine has posted its year-end round-up of the best comics of 2007. I've missed quite a few and question the inclusion of others. But then it sometimes boils down to taste.

This book was referenced by Darwyn Cooke in the Absolute Edition of his New Frontier. Although I'm not a fan of Cooke's story, I love the idea of how the Silver Age heroes (eg. the Barry Allen Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, etc.) supposedly had to deal with coming into their own after the Golden Age heroes (pre-World War II to 1950s) have retired or disappeared.

I have never been a fan of Green Lantern. Regardless if it's Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Guy Gardner or Kyle Rayner. To me he's a boring character. The best Superman stories usually touch on alienation and Batman's would explore the dark corners humanity and the redemption from it. I wasn't going to pick this up since I've had my fill of Mike Carey stories. What got me was the gorgeous artwork by John Bolton. For God Save the Queen, Carey revisits Neil Gaiman's (or rather William Shakespeare's) characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream and the Dreaming.
