TV and the magic of promotion

Last year I sent some dips and dressings to Cherie, she was assigned to write about Christmas gifts for clickthecity. A few weeks after, a morning show entitled One Morning was calling to ask me if I could do a demo. Then come December I had two more guestings in Umagang Kay Ganda. This wasn’t really part of my plans but it did good to the business. Dips were ordered, Cow King finally had customers :)

Having been in the TV Network industry for 6 years and handling marketing I’ve been exposed to the magic of TV. I was kinda shy about it that I would be guesting in these shows, but somehow it did wonders to my dips and Cow King.

My cook in Cow King played a game in Wowowee, she was then being checked by people in the store, being waved at in the local market while buying some stuff for the resto. She just mentioned the address, didn’t do a demo, Willie just asked her about the steaks and guess what?! We had people checking out the resto after that.

Last Oct 9, I again received a call from ANC for Shop Talk. I was in the airport of Bohol about to go home. They asked me if I can make it at 3pm, it was 10am at that time. I made it to Manila by 12nn, arrived at my house by 2:30. I was literally flying on the way to ABS-CBN to make it at 3PM. The interview was short, but thank God I did manage to answer the questions correctly. Again, people came to the store to check it out.

Just this morning, I was asked to do a demo again for a show named Sheka. The experience was kinda surreal but I had fun. My best friend and I had something to joke about after the show.

Here’s to more guestings :) hehe… feels like I’m doing a Julia Child show everytime I’m in front of the camera :)

I was in cheese and wine heaven

During my recent trip to Australia, we went to Hunter Valley. Hunter valley in Australia is similar to Napa Valley in the US. I haven’t been to Napa Valley but my brother pointed out the small wineries also open their doors for wine tasting.

On our first day after checking in at the Vintage, we headed to check out some of the wineries. First stop was to shop for dinner, then headed to the first winery that we saw. McGuigan wines had wine and cheese tasting. Being a cheese lover, I headed to the cheese tasting. I had vintage cheddar, some blue cheese and my favorite brie. My brother purchased some wines that we will drink for dinner.

lambchops
I cooked lamb chops and some salad greens to go with the red wine. Being Filipino, rice was still part of the meal. We ate the cheese with some grapes before going to bed.
bluetongue
The next day we headed to Pig’s Peake, I loved the wines there especially the semi-sweet kind. After that Blue Tongue, they had different kinds of beer. I loved the taste of the ginger infused beer. It would probably taste well with Asian Dishes.

More stuff about Australia in the next post. Glad to be blogging again.

Quiet time and Sinigang

I’m in a small hotel in Tagaytay, it’s called Potter’s Ridge. My sister was nice to invite me to tag along since she had a GC for an overnight stay given by her patient. As I write this, I’m sitting beside a big picture window with the view of Taal Lake. Everything is still, big clouds are hovering, the sun is bright and I’m enjoying the cool breeze.

We stayed here last Feb. I wasn’t really fond of their breakfast. I wanted to ask the management if they wanted consultancy on food portioning but nah, I didn’t pursue asking them. I’m just content on being a guest and just enjoy sleeping and staying here all day. So as I was browsing thru their menu last night. I was a little scared that this would just be another so-so meal.

My sister chose Sinigang na ulo ng Salmon and I wasn’t disappointed at all! It was one of the best sinigang I’ve ever tasted. I’m not really fond of fish, but the broth of the sinigang didn’t taste fishy at all.

After the meal, I enjoyed doing quiet time. A nice way to reflect on the things that happened in the first quarter of the year. Things are looking up – projects and all. I’m just wishing I had more time to just sit down and write again about the food that I encounter every day.

A funny thing happened when I clicked www.clickthecity.com

Lo and behold my two projects are featured on the same page in Click the City.

Two things that are very close to my heart. My dips that I have been making for 8 years already. Plus my new project as consultant for operations – Banapple.
