food and friends

I remember having lunch with Micky at the Tivoli some 4 years ago. This marks the first of the many long lunches or dinners we will ever have.

We were there at 11 am, too early for lunch I thought. Micky was conversing with Chef Gandler, she was asking about his daughter. It felt a little ackward since it was lunch, the last time i was there was during a dinner “date” with Wil.

She started checking out the wines that would go with the menu that was presented to us. We had salad and some warm bread to start the course. Then the entrees were brought in, if I remember it right we ate pheasants (looked a like a small chicken to me) and some other “game” like a deer or something hehe. The meal lasted for over 3 hours.

It was always like that, our meals looked like some ritual celebrating food and wine. Later on we were joined by Mark and Elaine, it became a celebration of friends meeting one more time, catching up on news – good and bad.

Jajapanese

Colds and cough barred me from tasting really good food these past few days. I even skipped dinner last night because of frustration for not being able to taste or smell.

I decided that I should give myself a treat and was happy about the decision of joining a group for lunch. We had lunch at Teriyaki boy in Tomas Morato. Was so happy about the Tofu steak (wow tofu again?), Yakimeshi rice and the Tonkatsu. Ah perfect to end a chaotic week in the office :)

This is the place where I plan to take Moby, when I feel the need to torture him. Greens, is a small cafe in front of Max’s in Roces. I had tofu kebabs with peanut sauce. I almost couldn’t believe that I was full already. I figured the tofu must’ve expanded inside my tummy.

This place doesn’t offer any kind of meat in any of it’s dishes. Anna had the tofu and mushroom burger, Jaja had Eggplant parmigiana . The desserts are “egg-less” and they use Soy-cheese. This will really be the death of Moby. hahaha

Lunch this week

Monday:HotBites from Brother’s Burger
Deep fried chicken bites that are a little spicy. Choose from teriyaki, chili or gravy as it’s sauce. My usual meal when I don’t like to LO (lunch out) and you can’t seem to think of anything better to eat.

Tuesday: Wok Inn

We ordered “sipa” (fried wonton skin with meat inside) and stuffed squid at Wok Inn. Each person had 4 pieces of sipa, one cup rice and choice drink. The boys were happy about the orders. Jovan considered it as “happy” busog. I’d be happy to try out the other stuff.

Wednesday: Skipped lunch had to go to St. Luke’s

Thursday: Uno

One my favorite restos here in Q.C. Uno is a small resto, a nice place to dine in for quiet moments. My favorite is their corn, lentil will red pepper soup. Very comforting after a long day. Today Jessie and I checked out their flourless choc cake — ahhh heavenly :) .

Another fave is their cheesecake, sarap with coffee and some good conversations. I’d like to try their lamb chops once I have the money already.

Cebu Lechon

Forget the diet, I had Cebu Lechon (Roasted pig) for breakfast this morning with garlic fried rice. My sister arrived from Cebu last Thursday, I had a few slices. I was so full already, so I had my yaya save some for breakfast. Hehe

I remember bringing home some lechon during my birthday last 2002 then Mark also brought one whole during his wedding :) Sarap! This is the only kind of lechon that I can eat. The rest that you buy here in Manila has a funny smell plus the meat isn’t as tasty.
