bora food
We spent 5 days in Boracay, food was not so spectacular plus some were really trying hard in putting up an international taste and feel. Food was really expensive except for Andok’s dokito frito (reason why people do line up in D’mall – at P45 a meal you get one piece chicken and rice) , some were good finds the others really bad.
On the first day we had Club Panoly food which was alright, then on the second day we ventured out into station 3 where the action was. How could anyone not try the Banana Choco Peanut of Jonah’s? We went there three times for the shakes. Then spent a quiet afternoon, drinking Coke, shake and water then trying out their Tuna sandwich.
We had an early dinner at McSandro’s where we had great baked oysters, Binagoongan na baboy and Breaded porkchops. We loved the oysters and the binagoongan. The other food restos were just blah and not really worth mentioning. After our Mandala spa, we went to True Food for Tandori Chicken, with hummus and Naan bread. Really good but really expensive. Then on our last day we went to the Hobbit house, Ching wanted to see the Hobbits. I wasn’t really happy with my lamb chops, it had this mint goo on top of the meat. I’d rather not have that had I only known that they will serve some mint.

The highlight of our food adventure was dinner near the Club Panoly resort, in a nipa hut with food prepared by Manang Juliet. We had inihaw na liempo and bulanglang with rice and coke. It was the best meal that I’ve ever had. No pretentions but just good home cooking. She even placed a checkered table cloth and some kerosene lamps to complete the feel of our meal. We vowed to come back and eat more of her specialties next year.
