pre-birthday dinner
I had an early birthday dinner yesterday with the most special people in my life. I just wished Elaine, Micky, Jovan and Mark were there. But it was fun! It was the first time that I had a mixed group. Imagine hosting 4 or 5 dinners for the whole month of September just to celebrate it with friends. This time I chose those closest to me and they finally got to meet. Iisa lang ang mga linya nila. “Ah so you’re Clorets I’ve heard so much about you Finally a face to the name.”
Another first this year is that I asked the help of Raul for the food. I only prepared brownies for dessert and he took care of the rest. My friends finally had a sampling of the offerings of Restaurant 9501. Raul is the Director for Operations in the exclusive restaurant of ABS-CBN.
The Menu:
Melba Toast / Potato Bread with Mascarpone Cheese with Basil, Sundried Tomatoes with Olive Tapenade and Apple Marmalade
Nachos with Meat Sauce, Tomato-Cucumber Salsa and Sour Cream
Mesclun Greens with Apples drizzled with Balsamic Vinnaigrette
Rice Salad with Dried Fruits and Lemon
Chicken Lollipop (for the kids)
Roasted Porkloin with Creamy Mustard Sauce and Capers
Spaghettini with Sundried Tomatoes, Watercress and Pine Nuts
Tilapia Fingers with Mango Salsa
Homebaked Brownies
Grapes with Brie and Camembert
We also had a sampling of Alamid Coffee which I purchased the other day. I’ll write about it in another post.
It was really an intimate affair. Plus I can see that the guests did enjoy meeting new people. On September 1 I’ll probably celebrate my birthday quietly. I’m thinking of going to the spa and have dinner with my family. Then I’m off to Gen San/ Davao for a 5 day vacation.
