Grabe time flies so fast.
I didn’t realize I haven’t blogged daily like I meant to, until I woke up yesterday afternoon at around 1 pm and had nothing to do but kill time and bum around at my place (or room, because that’s all it is).
After reading two short stories, taking a nap, eating an apple, fixing up my sofa bed, throwing away my garbage, and eating a pack of roasted cashew nuts, I discovered that I didn’t have anything else to do (well, except clean my room, clean the bathroom, drop off my laundry at the laundromat - but these were chores and I felt too tamad to do them). So while lazily lounging on my sofa bed, I mentally listed down the things I could do to while away the time. Write a story, go to Mega or Shangri-la Plaza, jog in ULTRA, work out in the rooftop gym, swim in the rooftop pool, update my blog…
Unfortunately, laziness won the day and I fell asleep again before I could do any of those things. When I woke up it was already almost 6 pm, and other things vied for my attention (dinner at Jollibee, an officemate who lived in the same building who got sick and asked for some ice cubes because her newly-purchased ref hadn’t been delivered yet, call Markie because I haven’t talked to him the whole day, read two more short stories, etc. etc.)
As I had earlier on decided to sleep at 10:30 pm so I could be up at 6:30 am because I wanted to be there when the Pioneer Highlands gym opened at 7 am, there was, er, no more time to blog after I did all those things I did.
So I decided to just wait and blog another day. And here I am.
What I’ve been up to lately (besides working my ass off):
1. Been going to the gym in Pioneer Highlands for 3 days now (I started Thursday last week). I even woke up at 6:30 today so I can be at the gym by 7. Go, me!
2. Still love playing Battle Realms, although Warcraft 3 is a lot of fun too. But I haven’t won anything in WC3, the computer is sobrang daya because it makes fighting units so much faster than I can. It’s like no matter what I do, it still has the advantage. Grrr. At least in Battle Realms I get to win some skirmishes. I only have one mission to go in the 2-player category, because I’ve already played (and won in) the others. I’m so proud I can purr. Purrrr.
3. PS to #2: And I super love those obedient Dragon Clan peasants in Battle Realms. At the end of a particularly hectic and harrassing day at work, it’s really good to hear a continuous string of courteous “Yes, sirs”, Yes, masters” and “Yes, lords” to my every command. Mwahaha. I’m not only an addict, I’m a dictator in the making.
4. I’ve also been re-reading the short stories in the anthology, “A Pocketbook of Short Stories”. Galing, grabe. Chekhov, Tolstoi, Twain…syet, why can’t I write short stories like they do? (Aba! Lakas ng loob ko mang-ambisyon! Hehe.)
5. Watching SATC everyday Tuesday. It’s still a funny, witty, sometimes profound, and pretty fashionable, TV show. But that’s one thing I realized - it’s only a TV show. Sometimes I even think, “Heck, I bet Sarah Jessica Parker’s life isn’t even like that…”, etc. But I still watch it, and I still have fun. ![]()
