“Better to be deprived of food for three days, than tea for one.”

So goes an ‘ancient Chinese proverb’. I’ve been hearing so much about the health benefits of green tea lately, that I finally decided to try it a couple of days ago.

But…I forgot to check beforehand how many cups I should drink each day, and so I’ve been drinking 3-4 cups daily. Finding myself still awake at 2am today, I decided to do some research on the Net.

Different websites gave different recommendations, anywhere from 3 - 10 cups daily, to achieve specific health benefits.

But most, if not all of them, cautioned against a common ’side effect’ of drinking too much (’too much’ being a very subjective term) of the stuff.

The side effect? Insomnia, caused by the caffeine in the tea.
