please help victims of the mudslide that wiped out an entire
village of more than 2,000 people in southern leyte, philippines
(photo via cnn)
The village of Guinsaugon is only about 2 kilometers away from the mountain village where I used to spend vacations as a child. Many of Guinsaugon’s villagers work in the surrounding ricefields, or in the local industries in nearby villages. Most of them are simple folk, without personal external resources to help them through this disaster.
Any and all help and assistance such as donations of food, medical supplies and medicine, blankets, and clothes, or any other kind of support in cash or kind, will be greatly appreciated. You may call the Governor’s Office at +6353 570 8625 to inquire about how you can help. Or email me at petite.gatela[at]gmail[dot]com if you have any suggestions or questions about giving assistance.
Thank you!

‘Day Sha! I miss you too! It’s so great to hear from you! Thank you so much for wishing my family well…that means such a great deal to me.
My family members who are in Leyte (dad, mom, youngest bro) are all ok. My mom says the local elementary school building has been turned into an evacuation center, and they (my family members) are busy helping with the relief effort in whatever way they can.
My younger bro (middle child) is in Cebu right now, and is helping me coordinate our relief “inititatives” from there. Some of my friends from work have donated clothes and a bit of cash, and I’m so grateful to them as every little bit of help we can give means so much to those landslide victims.
I am very much looking forward to your email with your ideas and suggestions about the fund drive!

Hi, X! HUGS!!! How are you? I hope you and the folks back home are fine. Mura ug gubot na sad raba karon sa Metro Manila da. Stay safe, ok?
I’m really encouraged to hear about the generosity of so many people from all over. It’s great to know that Intel is one of the companies that had a campaign to help the landslide victims - I’m sure Intel peeps excel in giving as you do at your work.
Yup, my family is in Leyte…St. Bernard, Southern Leyte to be exact…du-ol ra man sa Samar and usually in the path of the annual typhoons so usually dungan sila ug mention sa mga balita…mao siguro na you thought my family is there. On the other hand, you might be thinking of someone else.
Take care, X! Hope to talk to you soon!

Magdadasal lang ako, kasi that’s all that I can do for the moment. I feel sad that this has happened, yet there has not been much who has tried to help the victims, and I’m already saddened that some has given up.

Thanks for your prayers, Kevyn! It’s indeed very, very sad. But don’t be discouraged…there has been an outpouring of help and support from all over the world, and that’s still going on even now. Let’s keep on praying for them too! Thanks again!
