my nike percept

you’re welcome to run a mile in my shoes ;-)

The weather was fabulous. The sun was shining in a brilliant blue sky dotted with only a few stray clouds. The air was crisp and cool. People were out enjoying the welcome sunshine; a woman sat on the grass while her dog romped around her, joggers were out in their light running shorts instead of heavy sweatpants, students strolled about in their shirts and sandals.

Yes, it was the perfect day to finally bring my new running shoes to the track.

I’ve been breaking them in at the treadmills the past few of weeks, and they seemed alright, but I couldn’t really tell how good they were because treadmills have a different feel from the track or the road. And now that I’ve worn them on the track, I can’t seem to stop raving about them.

They’re very light yet it feels like my feet are cushioned from impact with every step. I tried on dozens of shoes before I finally decided on this pair, and I’m really glad I chose them. Nike is not paying me to say this (I wish!) but it really feels like I’m “running on air”. I can’t wait to get on the tracks or on the road again. I just love ‘em! :-)

Aside from my trainers, my two other favorite pairs are my girly pink slides (see below) and my comfy brown leather sandals. I wear my pink slides when I feel particularly “kikay” (very loose translation: girlishly flirty). They go well with jeans, with a skirt, or a dress. My brown sandals, on the other hand, are a staple for all seasons (except winter, when it gets too cold for my toes) - I wear them at home, at casual get-togethers at friends’ houses, at the mall or the movie theatre, and even to the beach!

kikay shoes

ain’t it just the sweetest little thing?

What about you? What’s your favorite pair(s) of shoes? Where have they taken you? Do share your “shoe love” stories! :-)

is this a piece of sinfully delicious cheesecake with whipped cream...?

is this a piece of sinfully delicious cheesecake
topped with whipped cream…?

It tastes just as good, but it actually is…

a guilt-free cantaloupe with low-fat organic cottage cheese!

guilt-free cantaloupe with creamy organic low-fat cottage cheese!

This year, one of my resolutions was that instead of eating LESS or depriving myself of delicious food that I love to eat (such as ice cream, cakes, steaks and lechon) and in the process making myself crave them even more, I would simply eat MORE healthy food that I also like (such as fruit and seafood).

What I’ve discovered is that when I eat a lot of the healthy food before I dive into the fat-rich ones, I feel much fuller and more satisfied, so that I don’t eat so much of the sinful stuff.

I feel lighter and have more energy these days. Losing weight this way is absolutely delicious! :-)
